Pangalawa: betting tips!

Let’s grow your money with some risky but calculated picks sa select Oscar categories.

Best Actor Winner - Heavy favorite si Brendan Fraser sa kanyang performance sa The Whale, followed closely by Austin Butler who portrayed the iconic rock n roll legend Elvis Presley.

But I am willing to bet on Paul Mescal (Aftersun) at 51.00. He already got the Best Actor nod from the International Cinephile Society and Toronto Film Critics Association from his performance in Aftersun.

Ang dami niya ring nominations coming from major bodies like the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, British Independent Film Awards, Critics' Choice Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, and more.

At 51.00, I'd take my chances with Paul Mescal.

Best Actress Winner - Vindication for Michelle Yeoh winning Best Actress awards for Everything Everywhere All at Once, and two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett put the full range of her acting chops on full display sa Tar.

But I am willing to bet on Ana de Armas (Blonde) at 41.00. Like the bet on Paul Mescal, napaka-rewarding ng bet na ito for an underdog with great potential to win.

Take note that for her role in Blonde, Ana de Armas has been nominated sa Golden Globe Awards, London Film Critics' Circle Awards, AACTA International Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, at British Academy Film Awards.

Best Director - I'm picking Todd Field (Tar) at 21.00. Ruben Ostlund at 51.00 is enticing but highly improbable considering the reception of other award-giving bodies towards the film with regards to directorial.

Safe bet is Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert for Everything Everywhere All at Once, pero magda-dalawang isip ka dahil ang baba lang at 1.08.

Best Documentary Short Film - Ang pipiliin ko ay Stranger at the Gate at 4.00. Not the outright favorite compared to The Elephant Whisperers at 1.57, but for giving the audience a fresh and much-needed take on love and compassion vis-a-vis the problem of growing local terrorism, this dark horse has four strong legs galloping hard for a top podium finish in this category.

Best International Feature Film Winner - 1.06 ang All Quiet on the Western Front dahil almost shoe-in na ang movie na ito na manalo. Dahil wala pang Best International Feature Film nominee ang natalo if it was also nominated for Best Picture, and I don't think something like All Quiet on the Western Front will be the first to break the trend. My top choice if an upset is in the offing is Argentina, 1985 at 10.00.

You want more tips pa ba? Consider these too:

Best Supporting Actress Winner - Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once) at 2.50.

Best Original Screenplay Winner - The Fabelmans at 26.00. I don't see Steven Spielberg winning but his work will.

Best Film Editing Winner - Top Gun: Maverick at 2.62. The action and realism in this movie is amazing and immersive.

Best Original Score Winner - All Quiet on the Western Front at 2.50. The score of the movie amplified the feeling of doom and gloom sa movie na ito.

Best Visual Effects Winner - Top Gun: Maverick at 13.00, not Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ang second choice ko if not for the clear runaway winner Avatar: The Way of Water at 1.04.

Let's join in sa 95th Academy Awards festivities and bet on nominees we think are bringing home the Oscars.

And in the spirit of summer, don't just dip your toes on the water, dive in!

Mas maraming pusta, mas masaya, di ba?
